Hi there guys!
Love the show, one of my favourite podcasts. I know you’re concerned sometimes that the topics discussed aren’t always related to anime, but I think what you do end up discussing is pretty relevant to the anime community in general. You touch on some interesting topics, and I think paint an honest and open picture of what it’s like to be a weeb in 2020.
But now, onto the issue at hand. The merchandise!
I understand that it’s the first time your group has dipped your toe into the world of merch, but I have to say I’m disappointed by the experience. I was keen to support you guys in whatever way I could, as I’ve been doing with other services I enjoy. 2020 hasn’t been kind to pubs, shops, and content creators I like, so I chip in any way I can in hopes they’ll still be around in 2021. I was therefore excited to find out you had some T-shirts coming out!
The price of the T-shirt… wasn’t cheap at $29.99… but I know how these things are and so was willing to fork out. Postage and handling was another $9.99, and considering it was being shipped from US/JP (I’m not sure which) to the UK, that seems about right. So all in all that’s about $40. Fair enough. Hefty, but fair enough.
The time between the T-shirt being finished and it’s eventual delivery to my house was some 3-4 weeks, which while I had been made aware of by the shipping crew was still pretty damn long. What’s weird though is that I have a friend who ordered the same product and lives in the same part of England as me, and they got their T-shirt some three weeks before me? I’m perplexed :S
All the above isn’t the problem though, all part of the journey. What really rustled my jimmies was that I didn’t get my T-shirt delivered at first. Instead I got a local notice from my post office branch saying they had the package, but that I had to pay £12.51 for customs??? Surely that can’t be right?
All in all, the T-shirt has cost me some £42. It’s a great T-shirt, fits well, and I’ve always liked the Trash Taste logo. I feel like an auxiliary member of the crew! But it cost more than it should have in my opinion, all charges taken into account. That and I think you or some other stage of the ordering process could have been more transparent regarding potential customs charges.
All I would suggest is that future merchandising endeavours be more transparent to the consumer, and maybe you could look into some less costly outlets?
Best wishes bois, and Happy Holidays to you and your fam.
Best fuckin degenerates
